What dr Preston said from Emerson’s writing was to not let other influence who you are as a person. We start off as kids who don’t care about the opinion of others and as we grow up we start to care ,and stop being ourselves. Emerson wants us to no let others influence us and to be ourselves even if it means that the rest of the world will judge, and shun us
