How did I Do?

Today I got interviewed, how did I do?

Self reliance part 5

You have to genuinely be good, not just pretend to be good
•Nothing is allast sacred but the integrity of your own mind
•resist people who try to change you
•goodness must have an edge to it
•question when giving kindness? Don’t just give in
•people who are bad act like good people
•don’t just exist but live
•you are good so just be you
•it’s not true that everyone has a unique true?

                                 “For nonconformity the world whips you with displeasure”

Emerson wants us to not let others change us and influence us, he believes that we are kind in narure and wants us to act in kind, however he doesn’t want us to simply be kind he wants us to question weather our act of kindness are truly helping someone.

You don’t know what you can do until you try
•God will not have his work made manifest by cowards
•Taking the easy road in life won’t make your life easier, it will make it harder later on
•Man is happy when he knows he gave it his all
•we are afraid to be ourselfs, in fear of rejection 
•what makes children so courageous and adults so afraid 
•the nonchalant attitude of boys,is the healthy attitude of human nature
•formidable is intimidating
•dont let others influence who you are 
•be honest with who you are


What dr Preston said from Emerson’s writing was to not let other influence who you are as a person. We start off as kids who don’t care about the opinion of others and as we grow up we start to care ,and stop being ourselves. Emerson wants us to no let others influence us and to be ourselves even if it means that the rest of the world

I don’t think anyone is enspired by the person I am.

Something I think is worth practicing from “on self reliance” is actually being a good person and not just acting like one. I also think it’s important to not let the opinion of other influence what I want to do/ say

ne te quaesiveris

“ne te quaesiveris” Is a phrase that means to “look within”  Emerson says that acting true to ourselves gives us power. And I never really thought of it like that. Dr Preston said that we like someone more is their are people who don’t like it and I also believe that is true. The person who goes against what everyone else is doing, is the one who gets remembered
